Paris, France - 1962
This picture of Sylvie Vartan was taken at the Palais de Chaillot in the Trocadéro district, which is near the Eiffel Tower. That was the same year that I moved to Paris, for the first time. Sylvie Vartan was only 17 years old at the time and was already becoming a singing sensation and superstar in France at that very young age. I was only 6 years old back then and she quickly became my idol. I later moved to Spain and lived there for a couple of years. However, in 1967, I went right back to France. Upon my return there, I lived in three different apartments in Paris and the last one was at 36 rue Greuze, only a few blocks away from where this photograph was taken! To the right of this picture, you can barely see the Eiffel Tower. Back in those days, I used to go on the street that’s right behind the museum and went roller-skating there often. Unfortunately, I do not have any photos of myself from my second stay in France so the next best thing was for me to post some with Sylvie Vartan (my favorite singer) and this particular one happens to be in the neighborhood where I actually lived back in 1968 when I was 12 years old!
