Liberty Island, New York - July 27, 2011 (4:04pm)   I don’t need a whole lotta money, I don’t need no big, fine car. I got everything that a girl could want, I got more than I could ask for. See I don’t have to run around, I don’t have to stay out all night. Cause I got a sweet, sweet loving man and he knows just how to treat me right. My baby, he’s alright because my baby, we’re so tight. Don’t you know he is some kind of wonderful. Don’t you know he is some kind of wonderful. Tell him that he is some kind of wonderful. Now hold it, let me tell you one more thing: Now, when he holds me in his arms, he sets my soul on fire. And, ooh, when my baby kisses me, my heart becomes filled with desire. When he wraps his loving arms around me, he almost drives me out of my mind. I get these funny little feelings inside of me, chills run up and down my spine. My baby, he’s alright, me and my baby we’re so tight. Don’t you know he is some kind of wonderful. Tell him who he is some kind of wonderful. Tell him that he is some kind of wonderful. Now hold on, let me know just one more thing: Now is there anybody out there with a sweet loving man like mine? There’s got to be somebody with a sweet loving man like mine. Now, tell me ladies: Can I get a witness? Can I get a witness? Can I get a witness? Can I get a witness? You know what I’m talkin about! Some kinda wonderful. Don’t you know he is some kind of wonderful...Here is an awesome picture of my Canadian friend Kristen with me. Isn’t she absolutely adorable? The Statue of Liberty is right behind us and we spent the entire afternoon there. We took many really cool pictures of each other on Liberty Island. Kristen has a Nikon digital SLR camera that’s very similar to mine and she sure knows how to take pictures the right way! My friends are some kind of wonderful and Kristen is no exception!Although I have seen the Statue of Liberty many times from far away, this was the first time that I got to see it up and close. This was certainly a very meaningful event for me being that I was born in Bulgaria. Back then, my homeland was a communist country and freedom was non-existent. Fortunately, thing have gotten a lot better there since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Visiting this famous monument (which is the biggest symbol for liberty in the entire world!) was a very memorable experience for me more so than for most people. And best of all, I was in the company of a very beautiful and nice young woman. Things just don’t get any better than that!Later that evening, I went to the Sylvie Vartan concert in New York City. She happens to be my all-time favorite singer. As usual, she put on a magnificent performance and I videotaped most of it, and this made for a really nice souvenir. I also took several awesome pictures of her, her husband Tony Scotty and her backup vocalist Sophie Gemin. Like Sylvie who is also from Bulgaria, I fled from the terror of communism when I was little and we both ended up in the same place: Paris. Now that’s quite a coincidence! She recorded her first song when she was only 16 years old and it became a big hit on the radio in France. Interestingly, when Sylvie Vartan sang in Las Vegas back in 1982, there were big billboards everywhere advertising her at “The best gift from France since the Statue of Liberty”. And here I am with the Statue of Liberty right behind me, on my way to see Sylvie in concert!!! Isn’t this another amazing coincidence? Actually I planned it exactly that way! Things tend to go well when you plan them ahead of time and this turned out to be my best one-day vacation ever! (Nikon D50)
